I enjoyed your posting. I work at a homeless shelter, in the administrative offices, and this really spoke to me. I will try to be more conscious of what goes on at my church, but I believe we are very focused on the congregant, rather than appearances. Thanks for writing. 8-)

This posting was very insightful insomuch that I can relate. It is all but true about the church of today which has caused me to look upon the old religion. I have found a greater connection in such. It having been suppressed and its believers silenced is on the rise and growing in numbers today. Soon, that which has been presented under falsehood will be exspoded and we will all once again see our roots. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I know I'm kinda responding late to this but I feel God led me to it. I needed this. I can say that being in college has buffered me from why I truly follow Jesus. I get frustrated that the corporate world pushes me to education and the church world is focused on serving me. I look at these past weeks and yes, I have learned great things in my faith, but have I really shown TRUE love to those around me like that of Jesus? I don't think I have. I know I am not Jesus and with that I fall short, but your right, every day of mine is "will I do good on this test?" or "I hope I see my faith in God grow today." I show some compassion in my life towards others but this cross I carry is a Full Time, not what I make it. I really needed this "punch to the stomach", so to speak... Thanks Troy.

Troy,

I have to say that this was and is a good post, one that reframes our understanding of being a 'relevant' church, community of follower of Jesus. It actually got me thinking of the church needing 'a new kind of relevant', and that being modeled by the early church. Really good thoughts here!

Blessings.
